When it comes to malware scans, Identity Guard Device Secure aims to provide you with protection, control, and flexibility. In order to do so, the Identity Guard Device Secure app offers 3 different scanning options when scanning your device for malware: our Smart Scan, Full Scan and an option to scan specific files and folders. This article details what those different options entail and how you can use them to your advantage.
Smart Scan
The Smart Scan option is designed to look in the locations that are most likely to store any type of malware. More specifically, Smart Scan looks in these places on each platform:
- Documents
- Downloads
- Desktop
The advantage to Smart Scan is that it takes much less time than the Full Scan and is pretty likely to find an infection, but the disadvantage is that it looks at only a small portion of your files and folders and may miss a more pervasive infection.
Full Scan
As the name implies, the Full Scan will go through every single file and folder on your device. This can take quite a bit of time, depending on how many files and folders you have, but you can be sure any infections will be found and quarantined.
Scan Files or Folders
Unlike the previous two options, the Scan Files or Folders option allows you to pick a specific file or folder to scan. This is a great option if you suspect that an infection resides in a specific file or folder and you want to scan just that very quickly.
