Instructions
Windows 7
- Click Start, type update in the search box, in the list of results, click Windows Update. or simply locate Windows Update manually.
- In the details pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
- If you see a message telling you that important or optional updates are available, click Install Updates.
- Once the updates are finished, you will be asked to restart your computer.
Windows 8
- Point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.
- Tap or click Settings.
- In the search box, type Windows Update.
- In the details pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
- If you see a message telling you that important or optional updates are available, click Install Updates.
- Once the updates are finished, you will be asked to restart your computer.
Windows 8.1

Windows 10
Windows 10 periodically checks for updates so you don’t have to. When an update is available, it’s automatically downloaded and installed, keeping your device up to date with the latest features and security improvements.
To manually check for updates now:
- Select the Start button
- Click the Settings button
- Update & security
- Click on Windows Update on the left hand-hand side
- Select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.
- If you do have updates available, click Install Updates.
- Once the updates are finished, you will be asked to restart your computer.
